Getting Started In Internet Marketing

When you hear the term “internet marketing“, what do you think of?

For many, that term conjures thoughts of websites or spamming or search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. For others, it’s all about graphical design, writing fancy code or even affiliate programs. All of those answers correct, but the essence of internet marketing is much simpler.

At its core, internet marketing is about these things:

* Understanding the target market to which the product/service/cause you’re marketing will appeal
* Determining exactly how your target market interacts with the internet
* Positioning your content on the internet to attract the attention of your target market
* Collecting information about your target market (also known as “leads”) for follow-up and conversion into sales
* Design of offers or incentives to induce the desired actions from your leads

Since there is insufficient space in this article to give all of these topics adequate attention, let’s focus on just one specific topic with the realm of internet marketing: Email Marketing.

My best payoff has always come by focusing on permission-based email marketing. Permission-based email marketing refers to the practice of collecting information (including email addresses) from website visitors and communicating with them via e-mail with their direct consent. The “permission” aspect of permission-based email marketing is what separates legitimate email marketers from the spammers that everyone despises.

My love of email marketing is strong for one reason: It works very well. Email marketing has been much like a never-ending goldmine: It enables us to produce income on demand simply by sending a good offer to our list. When you have thousands of loyal subscribers – as we do – and you put a strong and compatible offer in front of them, income becomes nearly automatic.

However, the key to successful email marketing is the development of a legitimate trust relationship with your subscribers. If you opt to send your subscribers a request for purchases every single day, they will likely tire of your badgering and cease reading your emails altogether.

Alternatively, if you take the time to provide good content to your readers on a regular and frequent basis, you’ll discover that your readers take all of your emails far more seriously, and as a result your emails will be opened, read and acted upon with greater frequency. Essentially, email marketing is really an exercise in trust.

Even though there are more sides to internet marketing than just email marketing (permission based), email has been the foundation that our business sits on.

Free Web Traffic -Demand The Best

Targeted Web Site Traffic Video

This article discusses Auto-Responders. Refer to other articles on this web-site for more important Auto-Responder information.

Ok, so you know why you want to establish a mailing list (to keep in contact with your visitors and customers and be able to offer them special deals and promotions as well as to provide information that is truly of use and of benefit to them).

So how should you set up a campaign? It could be a potential disaster if you don’t do it properly and to consider ramifications of mixing potential and actual customers together.

Here is an example.

You may have an e-Book your selling on your website.

The regular price of the e-Book may be $47. As part of the pre-sales process, you offer an opt-in to a mailing list where potential buyers can find out more information about your e-Book, and you can over a period of time give them information about the e-Book, etc.

Having customers and prospects on the same mailing list is usually not a good idea, because you cannot target the information you wish to provide to each group.

You would be much better off providing one list all the information about the eBook (your prospects list) and have another list be following up purchases of the e-Book, with other relevant information.

Can you see how, overall, the quality of information you provide each group would degrade if you attempted to get away with just the one list.

For example, what if you wanted to offer your existing customers a discount on another product (without offering it to the prospects). What about if you wanted to offer prospects a discount for a limited period of time to purchase the eBook.

This would just end up upsetting the other grouo of people if you attempted to combine them onto one list. Surprisingly many companies try to do exactly that.

Decent auto-responder software can do some smart things like automatically move a prospect from one list to another after a specific event occurs.

In the example above, you could get a prospect moved from the “prospects” list t the “customers” list automatically when the prospect purchased your e-Book. Nice eh?

Can you see where I am going with this? You need to have a range of auto-responders for customers, potential customers, and maybe elite customers. Don’t forget about your affiliates who are selling your products, they need their own set of auto-responders giving them absolutely all the information they need to know.

Things like where to find all the tools they need to market your products, how to check their affiliates, call to actions, special promotions (you might even offer your affiliates additional commissions for a limited time, or offer an extra once off payment for the highest paying affiliate in that month).

Remember also that while auto-responders are automatically sending out these emails to your various contacts, you can still send out a “once-off” email to each group.

For example, in the case of your affiliate mailing list, you could send them an email every time the e-Book was updated, or to advise of a special promotion for the next seven days, etc.

Are you starting to see how powerful mailing lists and auto-responders are? Auto-responders work for you automatically twenty-four hours a day.

So what has all this got to do with web traffic you may be asking? Well it’s simple really, you are maximizing traffic to your website be greatly increasing the chances of getting repeat business from existing customers and getting your name in front of potential customers often greatly increasing the chances of them buying.

Just picture when the day comes and you have written your second e-Book (of course it’s related and useful content isn’t it?). You now have the opportunity to sell that e-Book to all your customers who have already bought from you previously (this includes all the customers your affiliates brought to your website!

Oh happy happy, joy joy!) You can make changes in your auto-responder strategy (change the content, add a new email so that future auto-responders promote the new e-Book). And you may decide to put customers who buy the new e-Book on a separate mailing list and yes, you guessed it you promote your original e-Book on that list!

As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, I use and recommend AWeber for all my mailing lists and auto-responders. They are a premium service (but not premium price), and most importantly their percentage of successful email they send is a lot higher than most of their opposition.

For anything to do with targeted web site traffic; we suggest you do some careful research first and beware of the sharks out there!

The other great thing about them is they have a fantastic set of Video’s showing how to use their products. I “get” stuff much quicker if I can see it, and Video does this for me.

Check out AWeber, they have a great free trial available.

Remote Working Part 3 – What should be in your tool box

Quickbooks Login

self management more….

Before I give you my arsenal of great net tools that are sure to assist you to operate remotely, I want to discuss one more issue concerning self discipline and specifically to do with keeping your focus and levels of concentration

I’ve discovered and established a consistent trait in members of both sexes who work on the Internet and I’ve known for quite a long time and I call this behavior the 50 min effect. I observed these colleagues who focus and work for 50 mins. and then pause for a complete 10 minute break and are considerably more efficient and produce a much higher quality of work than members of both sexes who don’t have structured working methods.

OK as promised for your consideration is my list of preferred remote working software:

E-Mail

Google Mail costs nothing. My friends and I all agree the search and label (categories) mechanisms are the best implementation I have encountered. The only disadvantage so far is that I have seen it run quite slowly on lower spec.computers

Phone calls

Skype
used to infuriate me as the connection stability was unacceptable, but three cheers for the geeks at Skype now as they have substantially changed the quality of the service. For just a few bucks a quarter ! am able to call and conference in any telephone and Skype subscriber on Earth. The latest edition of Skype has a wealth of excellent features and there constantly expanding collection of practical add ons.

Organising Content

Evernote
has acquired more than a million users in a very short space of time – it enables you to store, organise and annotate any species of digital content in the Cloud. Just go check it out…it’s free.

Invoicing, Time and Expenses capture, Accounting and CRM

You definitely know that my desire to work remotely was originally sparked off by Quickbooks Online, a small business accounting software system. But it is easily beaten hands down by the free edition of salesorder.com – a lead to cash system that’s as easy to use as a pc mouse I looked at NetSuite whose pricing (and people) scared me off. My choice here is salesorder.com – Go check it out.

Remote Working Part 2 – The art of working smarter

Quickbooks online

The key reason men and women fail to succeed at working remotely is they fail to realise the essential requirement of excellent organisation and rigid self discipline.

I have been toiling remotely for more than six years since I first uncovered Quickbooks online an ‘on demand’ small business accounting software online system and was blown away by the fact that if you can do accounting on the Internet then why shouldn’t it be workable to perform other important types of work away from the conventional office?

Whilst working remotely has significant advantages there are numerous pitfalls which convert into problems that result in cuts in productivity and reduced morale. The major reason for reductions in productivity in remote professionals is distraction and it is a verified and well publicised fact that it can take a worker up to 0.33 hours to return to their original efficiency level after experiencing a disruption.

Research also shows that persons who are regularly experience disruptions are more likely to suffer from decreased memory power and are prone to developing mental health issues in old age. We exist in an over communicated era and it is imperative that you know the problems this causes before you begin working remotely. When working remotely you have to do everything possible to minimise the jeopardy of being disrupted.

Here are my most important tips:

1, Get a habit, make sure that everybody knows it and rigidly adhere to it!

Good examples are a specific time of day when you review or send e-mail and make or receive telephone conversatiions. Before I began working remotely I used to get well over 200 electronic mails a day. Now I think I am unfortunate if I receive greater than 5. To ‘restart’ my e-mail experience I modified my e-mail address and vigorously took steps to look after the details being made known to anyone. I then made sure everybody who I gave my e-mail address to, to use it wisely and sparingly. I also set up an automatic reply that swiftly told anyone sending me mail my schedule for attending to mail and if someone required my immediate attention to mark it as ‘Urgent’.

2. Get rid of alerts.

Disable every function that can send you a visual or audible alert. This includes cell and
ordinary phones and types of alerts from electronic mail such as visual alerts, warning sounds, screen changes to your inbox list and of course facing a window. Get a door on your study and put up a ‘do not disturb’ sign on it.

In ‘Remote Working Part 3 – What should be in your tool box’ I will reveal my favourite tools and software.

Remote Working Part 1 – Start here

Quickbooks online

Obviously not all of us is allowed to work remotely as some vocations require us to go to their employers premises or travel to undertake their work face to face. But for those of us given the opportunity to work remotely then I thought it would be useful to share my experiences and give some practical directions by distributing it on the Internet with the sole objective of providing helpful timesavers for adapting to remote working or supervising remote workers.

I can tell you that there are groups of so called ’experts’ on the web who will try and persuade you to purchase videos for vast sums of money, take my word for it you don’t need to do this.

I am privileged to be allowed to work in whatever location I choose and just about everybody who asks me what I do for a living wants to know how I am able to work remotely. Don’t get the wrong idea I am still improving the art of remote working as all of the time I come across folks on the net who show me new tricks and I am continually discovering new systems and ways that make my life easier and make me more effective.

During the past 7 years I have substantially adapted my working processes to allow me to do the whole of my work remotely with a kit of online tools and robust self discipline. One early morning whilst surfing the web I discovered Quickbooks online and this got me thinking about what just might be possible. My encounter with ’hosted’ ‘on demand’ small business accounting software was a life changing event for me and the launch pad of my ‘remote working history.

I must tell you up front that proficiently working remotely is as much about the software as it is about self management. Working remotely also means imparting to your co-workers, superiors and clients as to what they can expect and how they will communicate with you.

In ‘Remote Working Part 2 – The art of working smarter ‘ I show you how to focus.

Getting back links – free advice and guidance

backlinks

You might think I am mad but I am giving free advice and coaching to people who want to get higher volumes of visitors to their internet sites, here is why.

Although excited at the time I have pretty horrible memories of building and setting up my first web site back in 2000. Anyone who embarks upon the challenge of building a web presence should get a helping hand. Designing your first web presence can be really hard if you are inexperienced.

Areas like understanding the significance of back links and keywords, how they affect Google page rankings and page authority, and the correlation between these and traffic volumes are complex and often poorly presented by significant numbers of self proclaimed guru’s on the internet. I constantly meeting people who want to establish a business or get something going on the Internet so I am going to do something about it.

After years and years of toiling on the web, discovering, learning and trying out approach to develop successful web presences by pushing substantial volumes of prospects. I felt compelled to educate people.

As a result efforts and achievements I am fortunate enough to be in a position to do this and devote a significant amount of quality time to it. Everybody I have met who is just beginning or already establishing a web site wants a short cut, I’m no different and therefore whenever I have found really good material and tools that work I am going to route my students at these rather than try and reinvent the wheel.

Everything I have tried and tested that has delivered good or excellent results will be included in my educational material and where there are gaps I have filled them in. Obviously along the way I have developed some techniques, tools and methods of my own that I regularly use which I will be including in the education.

The effect of back links on your web pages

backlink

Before creating a web site you should have decided how you intend to get visitors or ‘traffic’ to your web pages. Be it selling a product or service or conveying an opinion or information you want to get attention and this means getting traffic. You need a significant proportion of your traffic to come from the search engines. The search engines generate targeted traffic and the great news is its costs you nothing.

Search engines stay in business by understanding what the user are searching for and delivering relevant results. The number one goal of every search engine is to attract users and increase loyalty and this can only be done by delivering what the searchers are looking for in a relevant and timely fashion. More users returning, means more popularity and more sales. The search engine objectives are very similar to the ones you should set for your web pages.Position yourself in the mind of your users as a relevant source of information and make them visit over and over again.

So how do you go about doing this?. You have two options and you can use both. You can write useful and relevant content or you can use the advertising methods offered by search engines and other properties.

Without a keyword or a key phrase search engines will simply ignore content. The user typing a keyword or phrase into the search engine starts the search process. The search engine refers to a gigantic index to retrieve a list of the web pages it deems to be the most relevant to the keywords the user entered. The search engines decision about what pages to display in the results are based upon two key factors relevance and authority.

Authority is a function of the back links to a web page and relevance is largely down to on page factors such as the number of times a keyword appears on the web page. The number and authority of the back links to a web page help the search engine determine the position the web page will occupy in the list of pages.

Back links determine the fate of a web page and are a key consideration.

Back links play two important roles they direct traffic to your web site and factor in the search engines deciding the position of your web pages in the index of results. Users will follow links they find in content if the back link is labelled with relevant text. This text in the back link is known as ‘anchor text’ and this too is taken into consideration by the search engines. Back links can vary in value.

Web pages with back links from authoritative pages acquire authority in the eyes of the search engines.Web pages with more authority pass more authority onto your pages .

What An iContact Review Says About Email Marketing Strategy

If you have your own business and you want to provide security for all of your emails, don’t go for free email services instead you need to go for an email marketing service company that can provide more than just simple email activities. Everybody knows that spam is one word that anyone who checks his email would wish not to encounter but you can’t stop those spamming guys from doing what they do best, to create havoc and to be nuisances to other people. Imagine if you will just use a free email account. What will ever happen to your correspondence especially when you are monitoring your email surveys, newsletters, blogs, auto-responders, and RSS feeds, among other things? According to some Email Marketing Service reviews, with an email marketing service provider, you can promote or create an unlimited number of e-mail marketing campaigns and you will surely gain a lot of benefit for your business.

This is what you have to look out for. You need a sort of mass mail software or an email marketing service provider to help you advertise your online products the way you need to do as an internet marketer. Forget about free email providers and forget about the tri-media: the radio, TV and print media. You can find some peace for your internet marketing business. Now, there are lots of email service providers that you can find online and perhaps, according to Email Autoresponder reviews, it’s best that you should try to find and read a user or customer review or two to give you an idea of what kind of provider you would like to have.

For example, if you want to know more about a particular email service provide r like iContact, naturally, you have to read an iContact review so you can get to know more about his service provider. You can find out why a lot of internet marketers before you have used iContact to send some flyers, brochures or samples or reports to their would-be customers through bulk email listings. All of these can be accomplished by an email service provider and among the best is iContact.

Aweber vs iContact Full Run Down

iContact Autoresponder

So what do network marketers really want from in an autoresponder?

Wikipedia: Explanation

An autoresponder is a pc software that automatically sends messages. E-mails can be quite complex or very simple. The sole point of using an autoresponder is to keep in contact with your List. Your list is composed of people who have faith and look up to you and respect you as a leader.

As they quote “The money is in the List”.

So it is crucial that your autoresponder is capable of doing a few tasks well.

The base line to any successful business owner is always linked to a correctly working auto-responder.

Comparison between Aweber vs iContact

1. Price - $20/month (0-500 subscribers) vs $10/month (0-250 leads), $14 (500 leads)
2. Spots on Alexa – 256 vs 3,197
3. Easy to Use? – Both are similar as both allow HTML and TXT messages but converting a HTML to a TXT in iContact sometimes requires additional changes as words get combined. Very annoying. Also Aweber shows you the default width so you can sentence wrap lines for {smaller} screens which many people have.

Sending a HTML and TXT email will help decrease your Spam score so be sure to include this featuer when you can.

Use an auto-responder like iContact or Aweber that sends from YOUR e-mail and not some generated e-mail address. Another autoresponder I encountered, Isoresponder, distributes messages that are from a complex generic generated e-maill address which makes it harder for users to lock in the senders single e-mail.

Fees

iContact has a $1 trial. Aweber basically gives you a month to try the system out and if you don’t like it they will give you back your money.

So which one? In terms of which to choose, it really depends on your personal goals.

Both are industry leaders and if your list is not large, the one difference might be cost until you go over 250 subscribers. If your goal is 250 leads then you’re thinking too small. Personally, I was too frustrated with iContacts HTML email copy to TEXT and having to change the mistakes of that conversion.

My fully customizable marketing system that generates prospects even on auto pilot uses Aweber and my asset is my list.

Learn to promote your network marketing business using internet tools like auto-responder. I personally use Aweber to grow my MLM Marketing Business
